Tag You're It

I've been tagged by the immortal Michelle O'Neil of Full Soul Ahead.

I'm a first timer, so, uh, 8 things about myself:

1) I was asked to play the pivotal and coveted role of the Blessed Mother in my first grade's Christmas Pagaent. I told Sister Francesca that the role wasn't really that interesting, and could I play something meatier, like, say, a nightingale? She refused, but gave me the small but important role of The Angry Innkeeper Who Sends Them Away. I wore curlers and a flannel robe, yelled and slammed the door in Mary and Joseph's faces. I was so good that I reprised the role for 4 years. Even then I was in touch with my anger.

2) In college, I used to drink Tequila, get drunk, change into a wrestling singlet and wrestle any man who would meet my challenge.

3) My ballet teacher put me on a diet at five.

4) I once did a play at a VERY reputable and famous theatre. I did a scene where I pretended to eat sh*t out of my husband's ass. It was Jell-O chocolate pudding in a cup wedged between his cheeks. The scene was cut in dress rehearsals.

5) I am five feet one inches but I have never felt short. I dated a man who was 6'10, and didn't notice. For five months.

6) I have a phobia about eating fish. I can't look at it, smell it, or touch it, much less eat it. I can't even touch a fish stick.

7) I own 376 lipsticks. Can't stop buying them.

8) I love to kickbox and fence. In fencing class, I was not allowed to fence other women because I was too aggressive. Once, I fenced a guy so hard, my breast plate fell out.

That was fun and painless.

I will now tag some friends. I have anxiety about this; I'm afraid it's like PE, and I'm asking someone to play, and they will refuse.
(Neurotic much?)

What did you wear under the singlet and WHERE did you get one? Did some wrestling boyfriend leave it with you? 376 lipsticks? Wow. Thanks for a great read.

Okay. The lipsticks. Unbelievably, almost ALL are Dept. store quality. I have maybe 3% dimestore quality - those were bought only in cracked-out desperation. The brands - mostly LORAC, Bobbi Brown, Clinique (butter surge gloss- fanfuckingtastic)and MAC. They are all variations of the same goddamned color.

The singlet was purchased at Contempo casuals, laced up at the sides of the hot pants. It was black, criss-crossed at the back, and gave me a serious wedgie.

Depending on the drunkeness, I wore a small, tight white "baby t-shirt", or, egads, a black embossed bra not unlike Madonna's famed cone bra of "Blonde Ambition" tour.

Did I mention that this was circa 1990-91?

OK, you wanted more photos. Tell me what you think of these . . . should I show them to the world, or make a different kind of gallery, or what?

John,
I love your photos. First, the sanitorium is my favorite, followed by your family (just HOW much do you love the kid and the mate? It's apparent through your masterful lens)
But my MOST favorite is the extensive cylinder collection. By far.

Yesterday, at my daughter's preschool, a little boy who has Asperger's came over to me, wearing his sunglasses (the lights are too bright for him) and talked to me about trains and motors and cylinders for 30 minutes, until I had to leave for work.
He was an utter delight, and I thought of you and silently wished this little boy a happy life and booming business, just like yours.

Thanks for sharing your lovely photos.
