miracle
Do me a favor.
The next time you are sitting in an IEP, a teacher's conference, a diagnostician's office, or someone looks at you the wrong way at the local playground...
Watch this video.
And remind yourself
that
your child
can
do
anything.

I'm SO glad you shared this video, I was secretly hoping that you would post one of Miss M.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, she rocks and so do you!
I WILL remember this video!
Freaking awesome! Goosebumps and tears. Even Nik clapped when I played this again!
Love, love, love. xoxoxo
(I deleted the other comment b/c of the f-bomb. But it just fits...)
BRAVO!!!
In light of the fact that I just received my son's IEP in the mail (useless damn document written by someone who marginally knows him--but that's another story). Anyway, in light of that, THANK YOU.
Seriously. From the bottom of my heart.
Oh good oh, that will be something that's really easy to remember. What a good sharer you [both] are.
Oopsie! Comment deleted? I hate it when I see that. [do hope it was just spammy stuff]
Cheers
p.s. always need a good displacement activity for IEP's and a lot better than 'ommmmmm'
Cheers
Wild applause! Encore! I'm verklempt.
Thank you SO much for sharing this. Miss M is awesome!
I'm especially inspired since, as I think you've read, I have my own master thespian in the making over here I hope that he is able to find an outlet like this someday.
AMAZING AND WONDERFUL I AM KVELLING AND JUMPING UP AND DOWN!!!!
and may i say? among all the other spectacular things i can and will say about this video--BEAUUUUUTiful social referencing by the MAGNIFICENT Miss M!!!!
Goddammit, you did it again - now I have to reapply my flippin' mascara!
Someday I will get through a Drama post without sobbing. I will. No, really, I know it. I will.
Or not.
But I'll never get through one without feeling CHANGED. STRONGER. More HOPEFUL. GRATEFUL.
Words are failing me, so I'm going to turn to Emerson who said, "there is a delight in the beauty and happiness of children that makes the heart too big for the body."
Quite obviously he said that after seeing Miss M TAKE the stage, TAKE our hearts, and, like her mother before her - FIND herself in the footlights.
Beauty begets beauty, Drama. Ain't no way around it.
BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO!
BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO!
OMG. Can you stand it? Thank you for posting!!!!
A standing ovation from 4-frogs!
Brava! Brava!
Such timing -- I await my son's IEP doc, which is due in my mailbox any day. And just last week we bought tickets to see GYPSY in New York.
Everything's coming up roses for that fabulous Miss M!
M - I am SO jealous- I LOVE Patti LuPone...and don't sweat that IEP. Roll with it.
Kyra - it's funny. When I sit and watch my kids perform, I try not to look with a critical professional eye (that Miss M is a half-beat behind in some of her dancing, etc.) or as an autism mom (look at how far her gross motor has come!) but inevitably, I notice. Thank you for noticing that social referencing. Thank you.
All - I have to tell you; at the end of the performance, they call out names and give certificates. M's name was called, and while she got polite applause, it wasn't near the popular screaming the other kids got. I literally sat, closed my eyes and silently thought of all of you who celebrate and cheer her, who understand what this means. So thank you all for being there for her.
Miss M, may I have your autograph please?
I so needed to see this beautiful video today...
sending so much love your way
OH HOW I LOVE THIS! I will always cheer Ms. M! It's huge.
This is simply awesome. Thanks.
Wild applause! Wild applause!
(and a few tears of pride for you, Drama...)
that was absolutely amazing and adorable and Miss M...you were just fantastic!
She's MAGNIFICENT!! (But we did know that already, didn't we??)
Think of what went into that for her: motor planning and coordination, visual, spatial, auditory processing, memorization of words and movement, social referencing, self-awareness, perspective-taking, self-confidence...and on and on.
What a freaking success story she is already!
She is AMAZiNG and so lovely and she inspires me. M has quite the fan club. Can't wait to show it to Isaac tomorrow.
XOXOXOXOXOOXOX
Beautiful!
Awesome!
Thanks for sharing this with us. I am beaming with pride for you.
It gave me goose bumps. Thanks for sharing.
I came back to watch again and to show Evan! He wanted to know more about her part and the camp...was Miss M ensemble or character, did they do a full musical? (did I miss a post?)
Evan says 5 stars!
Hey Osh -
She goes to a GREAT camp at a mostly gay theatre which, interestingly, has fantastic children's programs (they are heavily funded by wealthy single gay men with disposable incomes!)
It is an ensemble show, and what I love about it is that every kid has their "moment". M had several, but what was so great was that she was heavily supported by the group.
It was ALL about the group, which you can imagine, was right down our alley.
maybe we have to move out by you...
Wow!!!! Gianna LOVES watching this. Gorgeous!
Wealthy gay men ROCK. I am surrounded by gay men in my personal and professional life. Warmest, kindest, most generous people in my life. I'm sure there are plenty of gay schmucks too - people are people, after all. But my world is filled with the best of the best.
We've watched this a million times. Riley and Seth adore Ms. M.
"Some people" are so lovely.
